September in a nutshell

Baby Em poo'ing all over her bed at nap time and rolling around in it.  Then destroying her room while I clean it up.
Girlfriend likes to swat at the spoon while I feed her--put her fingers in her mouth and then all over her face--and LOVES to get a big bite in her mouth and then blow bubbles at me.
I left Sage happily drawing in my office one morning.  She came running in to me with big tears rolling down her cheeks and silent sobs.  I asked her what was wrong, to which she replied:
"I drew a princess but it went wrong.  She is so scary looking and her mouth is a big O and it's just all wrong!"
After I saw the picture, I completely understood the tears.  Scary!
Trying to cure boredom and beat the heat:

Sage came home from preschool one afternoon.  I asked what she learned about and she said, "DENTISTS!!!  Now let's go brush my teeth so I don't have to ever go see the dentist!"
Clint and I have been in awe of little Sage lately.  She has always been our super happy child, but lately it's just amazing.  She NEVER stops smiling.  She is bursting with energy and happiness all day long.  She is constantly talking and dancing and asking questions.  She is always saying the funniest things so matter-of-factly and it kills me!  The other day I went in to help her wipe after she went the bathroom.  She said very seriously, "mom.  I didn't even have to push at all to get that poop out of me.  It just slithered and slimmed its way right out all on it's own.  Isn't that crazy?" She makes comments like this all of the time and I really should just carry a recorder around with me all the time so I could catch every little thing she says and keep it with me forever.  When she comes in my room each morning to wake me up, she will poke me on the face and say "poke! it's morning time!" with a huge grin on her face.  If I ever have to wake her up from a nap, she is IMMEDIATELY happy.  She smiles so big and will say, "well that was a short nap!  Now what are we going to do?"  She melts my heart so much and I am so in love with her.  She is a genuinely sweet, loving, caring and sensitive little girl and we are so lucky to have her in our family.

I bring our entire toy room and panty to church each Sunday in hopes of keeping this gal entertained for three hours.  It is rarely enough.
Emery LOVES when  my phone when is set to take pictures where you can see yourself.  She just stares at it and thinks it is the coolest thing.
So does Sage.  :)
We started a new family tradition.  Movie and treats every Friday night on the floor before bed.  Tinkerbell the first week, Sleeping Beauty the second.  The girls LOVE this and we usually end up wrestling for half the movie.  See little Charlotte here?  Well I guess it's only fair I write a few things about this little booger.  Charlotte REFUSES to let us call her Char.  Or Charly.  Or princess Charlotte.  If we slip up, she is quick to remind us that "I'm not Charly!  I'm Charlotte!!!"  She is our sassy, spunky, sometimes very naughty child.  She knows how to work us and when to turn on the charm big time.  There are two sides to our little Charlotte.  She can be ultra sweet and loving one second and then turn around and beat you upside the head the next.  She wakes up from naps very cross, especially if you wake her up early.  When she comes in to wake me in the mornings, she says, "mom.  I want milk and vitamin and a movie."  Then she will walk out and wait on the couch for me to do her bidding.  She is such a stinker!  She is ALWAYS picking on Sage and goading her.  When I ask her to do something, she will roar at me and say no until I start counting to 3.  Then she knows I mean business.  I can always get her to do things but it's never easy with her.  She makes us work for it most days, but then there are the days where she just wants to snuggle with everyone and love on me and plays so sweetly with Sage and is just an angel.  I think she just likes to make sure she doesn't get left out and is making sure she doesn't get the middle-child syndrome.  :)  She is my loner child.  She does well playing with others, but she is SUPER content to play by herself for hours on end.  She can sit and watch movies all day without moving a muscle if I let her- but once she's up, she is UP.  She plays hard and sleeps hard and eats like two bites of food in between, which may explain her petite little bod.  I LOVE my little Charlotte.  I love the way she wraps her arms and legs around me when I carry her and just holds on so tight to me.  She is my little (and I mean LITTLE) lady and I can't imagine not having her with me every day.

Cruise day SIX

Final SEA day!
lots of lounging and eating
water slides
a few shows
a few pictures of Craig that I am holding and saving to use as blackmail and/or ransom
liquid ASS

Audrie was insistent on photo bombing our shot.  Please note the look on Clint's face.  Apparently he was not amused.  LOL!

 Our final breakfast before de-boarding.
This trip was seriously the best I've ever had.  We had so much fun and it was SO nice to get away with Clint.  We loved having no cell phones and no work and no responsibilities.  It's amazing how much more we talked to each other without the distractions of life to interfere.  And by life I don't mean our family.  I mean all the nonsense that takes over and tries to pry us apart.   The emails.  The keeping up with social media.  The gossip and drama.  The bills.  The outside influences.  We will absolutely take another cruise when we can.  And we will for sure talk family and friends into joining us, too.  Having my sibs and their spouses there made the trip that much more enjoyable.
So.  To our Cruise Captain Craig, please prepare and plan our next excursion.  And I call dibs on Mom babysitting!  wink wink

Cruise Day FIVE

JAMAICA.  Need I say more?
Ok, actually I will.
So the island of Jamaica itself is beautiful. Green and lush and rolling hills and beautiful beaches.
BUT....it's also a very third world kinda place.  Lots of shacks and sad looking homes and kids wandering around.  It made my heart hurt a little driving by taking it all in.
We took a two hour bus ride to Dunn's River Falls, where we hiked UP a waterfall.  It was freezing freezing, but very fun.  The trail guide and photographer with our group were paid based on tips from us, so they were very enthusiastic and happy people.  We had a blast.

Important things to remember about day Five:
bus drivers will tell you one thing and then do another
Usain BOLT!
$50 pieces of wood: boss lady
very pushy locals who want you to buy EVERYTHING

Cruise day FOUR

Grand Cayman!!!  We ported and took a ferry to shore on Wednesday.  We overpaid for a big van to shuttle us all around in.  Toured the island-drove to Hell (a small town on the island) and back- stopped by a dolphin exhibit to discover it was entirely too expensive to swim with and/or feed them--then parked at the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.  SO pretty.  After a bit Clint and I took the van to go find the Crossfit on the island so I could get a picture and say I'd been there.  We also grabbed lunch at this little gyro stand and had the most delicious food.  It was so yum.

Important things to remember about day FOUR:

if you are lucky (BJ) you will find a wad of cash--$160 to be exact--on the ocean floor
spending an hour snorkeling around looking for more cash
having to convince someone to snorkel with me because Clint took off without me and was gone for two hours
laying in the shade because we were all scorched
dolphins doing the dirty
perfect beach

our ship:

 SEVEN MILE BEACH
I've always seen great pictures of people's name written in the sand.  I'm wondering how they do this?  I really tried to get some good ones, but the water would come rushing up so fast I'd have to speed write as fast as I could and then hurry and take the pic before it was all washed away.  I must be missing something.
please note the sad progression of these pictures.  that little black dot you see already in the water is my dear husband not waiting for anyone.  and from the look of my stance you can tell I'm pissed.

Cruise Day THREE

Day three was at sea.
It was very relaxing.
We ran on the ships track and did a little workout in the sun.
We vegged and ate and vegged and ate.
We had "formal night".
We danced.
We (I) went to bed early.
I almost can't stand this picture.  I am obsessed with it because of BJ's face.  Zoom in and check out that grin.

I'm sorry, but look at my belly.  That is a legitimate pregnant looking belly right there.  I think it's partially because my butt is so big.

Cruise Day TWO

We ported in Key West on Monday morning and after a hearty breakfast (and I do mean hearty) we took off to see what kind of deals we could find on scooters to tour the island.  Once we found our rides, we took off.

Important things to remember about day TWO:

Cute little tourist shops and bakerys (yum.)
Audrie can sit in the ocean water for hours with her hands held out of the water to prevent pruning
You can fit three people on a two-seater scooter
CVS carries "Key West" t-shirts
Visiting pre-Civil War artillery forts
Pretty beach but not the softest sand
Good ole Mormon boys should not be allowed to see certain Cruise Shows (think Vegas ladies dancing in panties.)
Good ole Mormon girls should not be allowed to see certain gay dancers shaking their junk to the YMCA right in front of our faces.  It's not pretty
