A few weeks before Valentine's, I let the girls pick out little mailboxes at WalMart. They both chose classy little princess ones that they decorated themselves. They were ecstatic. These were prized possessions and they tried to cram every favorite toy, doll, utensil, bow, etc into those mailboxes that they could. Each night I would leave a little love letter or treat of some sort for them to find in the mornings. Little things like nail polish, lip gloss, bracelets, suckers, etc. They LOVED this and I did too. One night I felt a poke on my shoulder and turned around to find Charlotte perched on the side of my bed holding her lollipop from her mailbox. It was 2:30AM. She had turned all the lights on in the house and was so excited for her new treat. It was so random. I told her it was still night time, so she immediately hopped off my bed, turned lights off and put her lollipop back in her mailbox. I almost died laughing! Such a stinker. I had big plans for actual Valentine's day--you know--fun breakfast with hearts and fluff. Fun all-red dinner. My plans all fizzled out quickly though. Here's why:

The girls were just having a rough morning. Everything was sad and scary and just off. So Charlotte had her cereal and Sage had her eggs and Emery had her oatmeal. Ya. We do three different breakfasts every day. I pick my battles. We did manage to make some yummy Peanut Butter M&M cookies:
Sage had her Valentine party at school:
Grandpa took the girls on their annual Valentine date:
(and they were so excited. Jumping up and down excited. I love how much they love their grandpa (s).)
And although Clint didn't make it home from work until around 8 that night, he made my day with this sweet card:
Ha! I seriously laughed so hard when I saw his note. This is SO something Clint would do. He got a kick out of me laughing at it and then showed me where the actual love letter was at. And while he surprised me with a brand new CAMERA that I have been dying for and am so excited to learn how to use--what he wrote in his card meant way more to me and is something I will save for forever.
We don't usually do gifts for each other on Valentine's, so I was empty handed this year. I packed him an all-red lunch for work and set out a few treats for him on his way to work, but just junky stuff. I was kind of floored that he thought to buy me something. Very unnecessary because we both think Valentine's day is just a way for Hallmark to make more money, but I must say that they romantic in me was THRILLED.
